What is Resurface Radio?
Resurface Radio is a new flavor to Christian Radio Ministry. The emphasis will be to develop all the varied talents of our best minds and have them contribute their abilities for the benefits of the rest of the world.
The history of Resurface Radio
The year 2005 saw the birth of Voice Radio. The dreams and aspirations for this entity were yet to be fully realized when it was cut short by its untimely demise, five months later. It seemed like the end of any hope for an Adventist radio station but Pastor Courtney Francois held on to his dream and continued to seek ways to bring this dream to fruition.
When in 2007 Resurface International was founded The desire once again reared its head and Pastor Francois again sought ways to make an Adventist radio station – a station that proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ and catered to the needs of an Adventist population who were not used to hearing music by Adventist ministers on air, and who needed a forum for the creativity of its music ministers – happen.
Opportunities for mainstream radio; Am/ Fm were not present nor did it seem as though they would be in the near future. God, however, does not operate on the same frequency as mere humans and He had already put things in place for the dream to go in another direction.
Whilst discussing, with computer-savvy colleagues, the whole issue of radio, it was suggested to Pastor Francois that he should consider internet radio. Not knowledgeable about the whole idea he did some research and the more he learnt, the more excited he became. Internet radio was a new idea but from all indications it was radio of the future and therefore, the way to go.
The movement toward the inception of Resurface Radio was rapid and it appeared to the outsider, trouble-free. This of course was not the case. The problems ran the gamut from building constraints to financial shortfalls. God worked out each one in such a marked way that you knew that this was His child; His plan.
May 23, 2009 was an auspicious date. It will go down in the annals of time and be remembered by young and old alike; but especially by those who were present for the launch and ribbon cutting ceremony at the humble yet promising building housed on the compound of the South Caribbean Conference of S.D.A. at Deane Street in St Augustine. As a babe in arms, Resurface Radio went through its gestation and then was birthed with much fanfare. Its first broadcast was not without its glitches as the announcers, fresh from training with Junior Lett, went on air for the first time, with its mantra: “Resurface Radio: More than just music”
It’s been almost a year since it first came on stream. Many have questioned the viability of internet radio and have even deigned to mention that eventually Resurface Radio will get to go on ‘real radio’. The reality, as they soon learn, is that Resurface Radio has placed The Adventist society in Trinidad and Tobago ahead of the rest. It has succeeded where Voice Radio did not and has carved out and continues to carve, a niche for itself among Adventist and non- Adventist listeners alike. The dream, which was birthed on May 23, 2009 is no longer a babe. Daily it grows and will continue to grow as it spreads its sphere of influence, into a man after God’s own heart.
